My prediction for the City of Atlanta proper.

Low ball: 530,000 residents
High ball: 590,000 residents
Goof balls: 620,000 residents

Median: 550,000 residents

My prediction for Metro Atlanta:

Between 5 million and 6 million residents give or take a few hundred thousand.

550k would still be some massive growth for the city over 10 years!

Nashville started 2000 with a population of 545,524. The 2009 "estimate" had the city at 605,000.

Low ball: 580,000
High ball: 630,000
Goof balls: 660,000

Since the census estimates for Tennessee seemed to be reasonably close to the 2010 actual figures, I think Nashville will be close to the middle of that prediction between 600-610k. I'm not expecting any huge surprises out of Tennessee.

I expect Nashville Metro to be somewhere in the range of 1.58-1.62 million.

Sidenote: Murfreesboro could be anywhere from 105-115k (looking at a 60%+ growth rate).

Cool interact map for growth in Philadelphia and sorrounding MSA counties.

I found it interesting the that South Philly (well what they consider the eastern part) is now 21% Asian. The presence is most definately felt, oddly enough in the Italian market, but I was surprised to see that today roughly 1 in 5 folks in this area (decent size) are Asian. Overall Philly posted very large gains in asian population since the last census.

I think maybe you should work for the Census, extreme precision

From what I've seen so far, they could use my "Theory of Throwing Darts at the Wall" to come up with population data.

Wait, I think they already do that...

Do you guys have a better/more efficient way of counting the population? If people don't participate, what is the Fed supposed to do about it?

Honestly, based on the endeavor I think overall they do a pretty good job. I would imagine that there is some estimated error (even though in theory a census); there is only so much they can do and imagine that most of this error is fairly uniform

Where does that number come from? The census appears to have counted 604 thousand in Milwaukee...

I think they need to create an electronic means for gathering the data. They should send emails out with the in-person forms, so people can submit from a work/home computer or via mail. They could use SSN as the unique identifier (or just the last 4 of the SSN with a cross-reference of name for security purposes), so people can't submit more than one response.
