To me for Philly and Rittenhouse especially it has to be La Colombe
This was rated the best coffee and coffehouse in North America

Funny in that routes are traced back to both Seattle and France

Starbucks Density.

Minuti Cafe, personal favorite of mine that's catching on like wildfire and getting more locations. Love the Italian based company though, friendly people.

Starbucks and Caribou (Twin Cities based) dominate the MPLS-STPL area. Dunn Brothers (Twin Cities based) also has a large presence. There are several local, independent coffee shops I like, including Spyhouse. However, I prefer Peace Coffee (also Twin Cities based).

Umm, Dunkin Donuts. My town has 2 within less than a mile of each other. And there are lots more. Though the independent ones do really well.

Philadelphia is La Colombe, like kidphilly said. Dunkin Donuts are everywhere, yeah. But it's hard to come across an independent coffeeshop (or restaurant, or deli) in or near Center City that doesn't sell La Colombe coffee. It's just harder to spot to the average passer by from out of town, since it's typically just a little sticker on the store front or in the store that says so.

Surprise the king of coffee in Seattle is Starbucks. The city iyself has one on every block downtown and in every major office building so you have more than one per a block. And the suburbs have them in every shopping area and grocery store. So there is many places with Starbucks within eyesite. We have more starbucks then Subways or McDonalds .

Independent coffee shops do well here in Boston...but there is no question this is a Dunky's town.

I went to Google Maps and found I have 5 Dunkin Donuts within a mile of my apartment...oh and what about 3 miles? 46 ...ya...not even lying. Kind of sad.
