which us city has the best skyline and downtown, including a midtown. the best highrises, and name the best highrise in your favorite city. post pics if you want , pictures of a skyline can capture a thousand words.

I voted for STL mainly because I live there and the arch is a very pictureque piece of sculpture. But, which city has a better skyline is completely different from which city has a better downtown. The cities on the list that have the best downtowns are Philly and SF, hands down. Houston and Miami have great skylines/architecture but the buildings are spread out without enough street accessable retail to give those downtowns the vibrant feel that is apparent in San Francisco or Philadelphia.

Personally, I think DFW should have been included in this thread...afterall, Dallas proper alone has the 6th largest skyline in the United States.
With its other neighboring cities, that rank solidifies even more ahead of Atlanta and Miami.

cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Houston. really like those cities. I live in greater cleveland and really like it, I also grew up for a short while near Detroit and loved it, might move back. and the other two I like as a vacation destination.

i'm glad to see houston get a top 3 vote. some idiot on a site rating the top 18 skylines in the world had dallas over houston at #18.
