Which city is more urban/cosmopolitan, with more culture, diversity, entertainment? Which has a higher international status? Which city do you think will prosper the most in the future? Which city has more locals that are from there or have lived there a long time(20 plus years)? Which city is better in most of that criteria?

Just wanted to throw a different debate other than Houston vs. Dallas.

I don't think either has a particularly good reputation "internationally".

Both cities have a tremendous amount of culture. I would say Atlanta has the upper hand in entertainment because all of the activities are in one area in downtown. Both are urban but Atlanta is slightly more suburban than Houston. Houston has the upper hand in diversity and there's no question about it.

Both cities will prosper in the future. Atlanta is in a perfect location and Houston is currently diversifying their economy so it will remain a powerhouse of the future. Both cities have many transplants but I would say Houston has slightly more local people from there because it's always been slightly bigger than Atlanta.

Both are great cities but I belive Houston has the better chance to become a beta city from the big four metros in the southern US.

Houston, atlanta isn't that great of a city, houston has it by far.

I would say Houston. bigger city, more to do, and not near as poor and crime ridden as Atlanta. Houston wins.

What are you basing this on? I don't know about Atlanta, but judging from the economy and the types of people moving here since the 70's Houston appears to have a great reputation internationally. Maybe you meant nationally?

are you comapring atlanta to houston? that's a joke, Houston has it hands down, much more to do, nicer downtown, and you don't have to worry about getting shot, like in Atlanta.
