No it doesn't. It only has 330,000 sq ft of exhibit space which is actually pretty small. Now total space is close to the 1.5 million mark but the big centers have more exhibit space than the entire square footage of Pittsburgh's convention center. Technically Orange County Convention Center has 7million sq ft of enclosed space, but only 2.1 million of it is exhibit space. I think in terms of evaluating a convention center, both are important but exhibit space = potential revenue, and therefore is a much better measure.

Raleigh's new convention center opened in 2008 along with its connected DT Marriott. It's about as centralized as it could get. One can walk to the actual center of the city (the State Capitol building) in less than 5 minutes. It's also immediately adjacent to the performing arts center, the DT amphiteater, a variety of state museums and Raleigh's ceremonial street (Fayetteville St) that's closed off for parades and street festivals. It's connected to downtown's 5 districts by the free RLine circulator bus system but most places can be reached by foot by a reasonably healthy person.

Hey I wasn't knocking you but they are usually ranked by exhibit space. Love Pittsburgh by the way and the location of your center is great, but not it's size.

The Washington State Convention Center is located in the middle of downtown Seattle, surrounded by the city's largest hotels, shopping, restaurants, and easy access to underground Link light rail stations.

Tampa's convention center is ideally located on the water in Downtown, within walking distance of large hotels, restaurants, parks, and the street car.

Detroit's Cobo Center is in a great location downtown, but is quite rundown. Nonetheless, literally just yesterday they finally revealed the $221 million renovation that will have multiple phases through 2014 in time for by far Cobo's biggest yearly event (North American International Auto Show).

Here is a video showing the tremendous changes that will be occurring...it looks great...
