Another advantage of SoCal...
No hurricanes.
And another...
Relatively low humidity even on the coast.
And yet another...
Nice hill/mountain views visible from many beaches.
And one more...
Can plan a day at the beach in the summer without worrying about rain.

The whole great SoCal beach lifestyle is a creation of Hollywood. I live here and for most of the year it's too friggin cold and windy at the beach to even sit comfortably in a beach chair let alone go in the water without a full wet suit. No contest.
Don't complain too much : it's still better than 95% of European beaches 'even on the Mediterranean) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah if you just want to lay in the sun. Florida is where its at. But if you want sailing and surfing and watersports in general California is the place to be.

South Beach has topless models. That pretty much settles it in my opinion.

I like how white sand doesn't heat up as much as tan sand.

Actually, the sea breezes in Florida keep humidity on the beach quite low and the push the rains inland more often the not.

thin stretches of beach lined by trees are far more beautiful imo

Actually that's isn't a typical beach in CA at all, it's a typical beach in LA County. Go to South Orange County and all of San Diego County and anywhere north of LA all the way up to Oregon and you will not find beaches nearly that wide and flat.

Temperature of water- south florida by far. love that warm water.
Amount of people- SoCal. i find it easier to avoid the crowds.
Clear water- florida. too much weird seaweed and crap in SoCal
Best sand- SoCal by far! very comfortable. sand is to hot in FL
Resorts- resorts go to FL. cozy motels go to SoCal.
Clubs/bars/restaurants- IMO SoCal. atleast for bars. san diego rules!
Nightlife! - Socal for me. too many sleaze ball clubbers in FL.
Cost of Living- FL is a bit cheaper overall.
Most built-up development-SoCal seems to be developed more.
Weather-SoCal by a friggin landslide! so dam comfortable.
Most beautiful people- my kind of beatiful is in SoCal. casual & comfortable.
overall i pick SoCal. I love you San Diego. i will live in you someday.
