I haven't been to New Orleans that's why I'm asking. So you see a lot of people walking all over the city? If I had to guess it's mostly in that Bourbon Street area.

Bourbon is in the French Quarter but there's pedestrians walking all over downtown, which is much more than the CBD. Downtown encompasses the CBD, French Quarter, Marigny, 9th ward, the warehouse district, Bywater and more. People walk in uptown, mid-city, and around Lakeview/lakefront area I believe.

There aren't many areas in the city where you don't see people walking.

The only foot traffic in Atlanta, Dallas, and Houston is people walking from the parking lot to the office building, parking lot to the mall, parking lot to the shopping plaza, and from the inside of their garage into their house.

Hmm interesting. I don't know why I always thought of New Orleans as a typical sunbelt city where there are pockets where people walk but most people drive, guess not.

Oh no. Think of it as a small Philly in Louisiana.

When you think of it, it makes sense that the old cities with houses that touch each other have more walking than cities that were built for the automobile. No real shock
I love Gruene. My fiancee used to live there. It is a charming little German town. That is why I am not gungho about an SA-Austin Metroplex. Do you know how many natural features and charming little towns that will be plowed over and replaced with Walmarts, Chillies and mexican restaurants if those two approach each other

Exactly...they are like 99% of the U.S. Most people who can afford a car will drive to and from their destinations because it's quicker.

I often wonder if when people make ignorant statements like this they think it makes them look smart?

Edit:

Looks like they got the ban hammer anyway. LOL
