I agree that you can't make a choice unless you've experienced both cities.
But ...why make a choice. I think St. Louis and Cleveland should work together not compete. They both have positive traits and negative. I wish Cleveland the very best.
I think we should team up and beat up Atlanta and Phoenix.
Thats kinda odd. You say "St. Louis definitely", but youve never been to Cleveland? How can you decide then? Cleveland might be the best thing to you since sliced bread.
Okay, St. Louis probably. I don't think I could like Cleveland more than St. Louis. My sports teams are in St. Louis anyway.
i am originally from the philadelphia area, with several friends in cleveland, so i feel i know the area well. i currently am a medical student at washington university in st. louis. st louis has better transit than cleveland. cleveland has a rail system but no one rides it, at least compared to the busy trains in st louis. you cannot get a seat on the trains here at rush hour. cleveland's rapid system is quiet.
in st louis, metrolink trains serve very important institutions and link downtown stl with downtown clayton. in between you have forest park, wash u, barnes hospital, the central west end, the loop and st louis university. cleveland's trains don't really go where you need them to.
even though cleveland is geographically closer to the east coast, st louis feels more eastern in nature. its more dense and is full of brick buildings, whereas cleveland has more prairie style midwestern architecture. they both have similar numbers and quality of museums, theaters and educational/medical facilities. i agree that cleveland and st louis are both lightyears better than lame cities in the south and west that everyone is so excited about. screw those places.

I am pretty skeptical about the train use list as long as NYC isn't on it. How can only people from Newark use the Subway? the Subway is popular on both sides of the Hudson, not just New Jersey, as my Manhattan friends could more than attest to.[/quote

This list is from 2002. From my understanding st. louis expanded their services/ new line in 05? i'd like to see an updated list
I've ridden the train in st. louis in 06. One was for a concert downtown, and the train was packed. Another was riding from my cousin's to the loop and forest park and their were a ton of people there. my aunt works in central west end and there were a ton of people waiting for the metro there. So, I don't know how accurate this list is...
People from cleveland i've met say no one rides their light rail train.
I'm suprised chicago's not the second on this list. Chicago's trains are packed daily and there are so many lines. Chicago and New York IMO first two, then boston DC.
stl, I guess. I really like cleveland more, but I had to do it. and stl has more goign on downtown that cleveland, but still not much. I see alot of posts saying that stl's downtown is jamming, but it's still this little city on a river, with the tallest structure a monument.(should be a building). but then again it does beat out cleveland.
