When people think of American cities, these the ones that are thought of or brought up the most?

No particular order:

-New York City (Largest city)
-Los Angeles
-Chicago
-Washington, D.C. (Nation's Capital)
-Miami or Atlanta

Agree or disagree

As a non-American, I agree with you for the first 4, the 5th I have to go with Las Vegas or Miami.

Well, no arguments with the top 4.

Id say "Miami or Atlanta" should be "SF or Boston"
but it could also be Houston or Philly. All 4 of these cities are ahead of Miami and ATL in my book.

5 should be Houston, maybe even Boston since it's the education capital. Atlanta is overrated in regards to power/responsibility in the US.

I'd drop Chicago down, and then say no arguments with the top 3 (NYC, LA, DC). After that, I think it will depend a lot on who you ask, but most people will select something from the following list:

Chicago
Miami
Boston
San Francisco
Las Vegas
Atlanta
Houston

Top 4 are good. I just don't see Atlanta as a city that "makes" America. Except for the airport, which is pretty important.

What's ironic, and also testament to the general ignorance of many Americans, is that the city that literally made America isn't on that list, even in spite of its size.

I agree with the top 4 was well. IMO, Boston/SF/Miami/LV could all be interchangable at the 5th spot.
