No other American city could ever approach New York and Chicago. They are just that far ahead of any other American city. But what has made it to construction here in Miami thus far gives it the 3rd biggest skyline in the country. This is a fact! It is not somebody's opinion. We have a height cap of just over 1,000 feet because of the proximity of Miami International Airport, so we can't have buildings as tall as those in Chicago, but the Miami skyline will resemble the Chicago skyline more than any other city because of its linear spread along the waterfront and its skyscrapers along the Miami River. That is how they are similar and will look more similar in the years to come.

"NYC is by itself, it has too many buildings to even compare to any other city" Have you checked out Hong Kong recently?

I don't think Miami and Chicago's skyline will look anything alike.

In Miami, a lot of the construction is condos, whereas in Chicago, they're corporate buildings.

The Miami buildings tend to be heavy on concrete, whereas in Chicago you see more glass being used.

Miami will never exceed Chicago's height, or concentration, nor will its tacky condos ever compete with Chicago's world class architecture.

In the last 10 years in Chicago, downtown and surrounding hi-rise construction have mostly been condos, etc.

Yeah, the more known new highrises are all condos. (the Spire, Trump...) I think Chicago's skyline is better than New York's. Chicago has many more unique looking buildings, and they all seem to stand out, unlike New York. There are still many buildings that people recognize as being New York, but the majority are just, well, tall buildings.

IT'S JUST LIKE WHAT I SAID ABOVE BEFORE YOU SAID THIS /\:

"We have a height cap of just over 1,000 feet because of the proximity of Miami International Airport, so we can't have buildings as tall as those in Chicago, but the Miami skyline will resemble the Chicago skyline more than any other city because of its linear spread along the waterfront and its skyscrapers along the Miami River. Wikipedia:
"Overall, Miami's skyline is ranked first in the Southeast and third in the United States, after New York City and Chicago.[b] By 2010, Miami is expected to have one of largest skylines in the world. Of the 10 tallest buildings in the city, 2 were constructed in 2007, 6 in 2008, 2 in the 1980's and 1 in 2003. In addition, only 5 of the city's 25 tallest buildings were completed before the year 2000."

This means the vast majority of Miami's skyline is 21st century architecture, tacky condos or not.

I'll still take Chicago's 1960's era John Hancock building over Miami's 21st century POS condo towers.

The John Hancock building is one of my favorites. How would you know Miami's 21st century condo towers are POS?
