Yea I'm not so sure how "internationally known" the Houston Galleria is...even then, I don't think 25,000,000 wealthy Mexicans are making the trip there to get their luxury goods. I'm sure 90%+ of those shopping in malls are locals.

I think people underestimate the impact of college sports in the Atlanta area (especially northerners and westerners many of whom aren't as into college sports). Athens is not far from Atlanta and it has a sold out 92,000 just about every game. You couldn't even fit that many people into a falcons home game. Then you have Georgia Tech games right in town (football and basketball). Every year there's the Peach Bowl and the SEC Championship game which each probably draw as many as 100,000 fans to town. Most of the last several years the winner of the SEC Championship game has gone on to become national champs.

Let's not forget Atlanta atleast when it comes to Urban Music and it's venues has a nightlife and entertainment industry thats only beat by maybe New York, L.A. and Miami. I grew up liking some of Houston's artist but neither Dallas or Houston can compare in that category. Just added that since the last few post have been concentrating on what makes each city stand out.

cities that stand out have nothing to do with how big the city feels. If so then Memphis would feel like the biggest darn city in the south.

same things with sports. SA only has the Spurs. Look how ginormous LA is and they don't have a football team.

And I would also say Houston had more of an influence on earlier rap than Atlanta.

If the earlier poster feels having a big destination upscale mall makes Dallas feel bigger or a big convention and tourist industry (something Atlanta also has) then how is it having a large entertainment industry and resulting large urban nightlife scene doesn't make Atlanta seem larger? Atleast to someone going for a night out on the town.

And yes Beale Street and Graceland do make Memphis seem alot larger than it otherwise would feel. (But not nearly as large as Dallas, Houston or Atlanta ofcourse.)

Probably. Thanks mostly to Scarface and the Ghetto boys. But although it does have some nice urban clubs today it's not on the same level as Atlanta.

Yeah, that was exactly what came to mind. But I agree, with mainstream rap now, I would definitely give the edge to Atlanta.
