Edit: also Pittsburgh.
I forgot about San Diego, it would close up the top five for me as well. The Downtown is built gorgeously near the shoreline/bay, the skyline is more or less symmetrical, the mountain backdrop, and pristine clean imagery only enhance the city. In my opinion anyhow.

One more for SF. You'll want to go full-screen for this.

Miami

Miami is really unique in that it's like a dance that balances strength and delicacy. Metaphorically, I can best describe it as a city built on top of lace thrown on the water. This sort of built environment really doesn't exist anywhere else in the US to this extent. This gives Miami a different sort of visual experience than the cities built against mountains or just adjacent to water.
This visual experience is one reason why high-rise condos are so popular and high floors with good views are so valuable. There are countless numbers of stunning views across the entire area from buildings along the water and even some from high floors of buildings that are a bit inland.

There is no city on this continent I enjoy taking pictures in more than San Francisco.

Quebec City is a somewhat distant second (though the OP did specify the U.S.).

I am 1.5 hours north of San Francisco now, on the Sonoma Coast. It is absolutely breathtaking and I drove here after getting off work! There are thick redwood forests, 200 ft. Sea cliffs with 15 ft. Waves crashing. There are hawks and whales offshore. The vegetation is incredible. The fog is rolling in and settling in the coves and spilling over the cliffs. The whole sky is orange and pink, with a deep, dark blue sea below.

I didn't save up all my money and come here on vacation. I drove here after I got off work. The Bay Area is easily the most photogenic area in the country--a rival to anywhere in the world, as far as I can tell.
