Lulz. Welp, too bad Brooklyn is apart of New York City. Your opinion is invalid. . . no it's not invalid it's just your little opinion, sorry. Do you mind sending me an Oakland postcard sometime? ::snickers::
I was going to post links to articles about Brooklyn/reputable publications but it's all tiring. Brooklyn will never be a separate city, so in short, you lose. Brooklyn is in a renaissance at the moment. The possibilities for this borough are endless.
There's plenty of fiction threads to go around. CA vs The Northeast is the main one. The Northeast will never be one state like CA is. That doesn't stop people from comparing the 2 regions, and pointing out how much more powerful economically the Northeast is than CA.
Too bad the rest of NYC does not factor into this discussion per the premise of the thread. If you want to discuss NYC vs. San Francisco, go to the Northeast vs. CA thread and do that.
And what are you snickering about? You can pretend that there are no hellish neighborhoods in Brooklyn, but everybody and their mother would know you're just pretending.
And here's that post-card of Oakland you asked for, brought to you by yours truly:
No, there's nothing else to discuss. This thread is an illusion. A "Well, what if. . ." type of thread. Fact is, it's not going to happen so what's the point? What's the real point of this thread? Brooklyn isn't a city, I don't care if it had 4 million people it's still not a city. I'm snickering because Montclair kills me in his posts. Truly I laugh at everything he post because he adds no value, to anything. He lives off numbers and percentages and lives vicariously through his screen (at least his posts seems that way). With you, sometimes, you admit or state your preference which I can deal with. But Montclair just can't seem to look pass that forest.
What's the point of isolating the boroughs? Do you guys sleep better at night thinking "Yes! We have one borough down?" I don't get it.

Look at who the OP is... apparently of the other east coasters on this board - people who've lived in Brooklyn - are fine with this comparison.
Toronto has a real skyline with many more skyscrapers than L.A. - that's context in which I made that statement, and Brooklyn does not have many skyscrapers so I would not have made a similar claim for it. As you kindly point out (though omission), I never said Brooklyn beats L.A. in size or skyline or economy or weather or even in hip-hop culture because it does not.

The OP is from New York. Don't accuse us of anything when we're just playing along.

I looked back at the thread where I thought you said that and it turned out it was rainrock. My mistake.

Well, me personally, I wouldn't take part/boost about that. That's silly too. The Northeast is huge with cities and California is just one state with Cities. Not a fair match up but I'm sure people from both sides would think different. Or they'll probably say "take out NYC then. . ." which another stupid thing to do because it's idealistic/fictional again.

It's just a comparison but when people bring up points knowing it's not within this part of the city (or in this borough), it just becomes bashing. I can't (I'm sorry, I just can't) disconnect the city as whole, but I did a great job in this thread! For people that's not from here, sure it could be easy but it's not when you grew up here. Everything is more integrated then it seems.
