IGNORED.

Hip Hop has a much deeper history in Brooklyn than SF and is one of many, many areas where Brooklyn is superior to SF. SF's hippy music is insipid.

Okay, we finally agree on something...I'm just going to leave this thread on that note.

Completely disagree... it's the single largest and most important cultural movement of the last three decades. It has influenced just about everything there is to be influenced, including politics. Hip Hop played a pretty significant role in campaigning for Obama, particularly in lower class neighborhoods... it's not every day that a genre of music plays a role in getting people elected. It is truly one of the top 5 greatest cultural movements of our time.

Not at all, that's just you very personal opinion. Brooklyn's got flavor to spare. I feel bad for SF, a whole city that thinks it's more important than it really is, quite the opposite of Brooklyn. FWIW, hip-hop is the most important musical movement of the last 30+ years - dismiss it at your own peril.

I won't turn this into a Hip Hop thread as its a surefire way for this thread to get locked, but know that you have no idea what the hell you're talking about other than Brooklyn's scene being five years deeper.

I dont see it. In what way? It may have been pop culture, but theres lots of bad pop culture. Like most pop music is throw away music, never to be heard from again.

I'm black, I'm sure if I go to SF, I can find a quality barbershop and quality black women in The Fillimore, or Hunters-Point Bayview. Aisha Tyler is from SF. She's hot and black.

I meant dancing in general. Not a specific dance like the Harlem Shake.
