I guess miles of undeveloped land. How quickly can one get to rural areas from the inner-city, and how much rural area is actually in the city-limits.

I thought Atlanta was one of those places where it was very hard to think "huge city" outside of a handfull of areas. Not saying that's a bad thing, it was just so wooded and extremely spread out. Even from the main interstates through town it seemed so rural much of the time.

I think the mods should put a ban on mentioning Atlanta, Houston, Miami, Chicago, LA and New York for a week to see how the CD conversations would go

I first thought of Houston since much of the land is undeveloped but then thought about just how much of it is suburban and not really rural. Leaving the city center you have to get through miles and miles of suburban sprawl before you hit the rural sections. I'd say the southern half of Dallas gets rural pretty quickly which I actually like. Tallahassee is another city that comes to mind.

I don't think it has to be a bad thing. When did rural become something negative? I love the rural areas surrounding cities. My favorite being the northwestern section of San Antonio and all the hills and the small houses dotting those hills.
I wish Houston had more rural areas and less suburban sprawl.
