How can you define Texas as Southeastern any other way? From the perspective of Seattle?

Atlantans dont know cosmopolitan if it hit them in their face, their oreo bland city has 3 cultures, white, black, and southern. Southern and not the good kind but the deep southern greasy oily pick up truck bible thumping kind. Its no wonder Atlanta defaces all aspects of a progressive city its designed to be a city in the 1920s for only whites and blacks and its demographics mirror dumpy Charleson, Birmingham, Savannah, Charlotte on a bigger scale
On the metro level, the demographics of Atlanta are similar to DC's.

And "dumpy Charleston and Savannah"? WTF???

It's only cosmopolitan if you are Latino. A high number of a one group or two groups of foreigners does not equal cosmopolitan.

I define the official southeast as the southern states east of the Mississippi. That's not the only way to define it, though.

Cosmopolitan =/= Diverse

Atlanta is very well cosmopolitan due to being an international transportation hub and international recognition.

Europeans also. And Jews. People forget Miami receives a large number of Europeans. One of the largest in the South for Europeans(if not the largest).

I think they like to randomly bash Atlanta because it's in the south and it's first in the alphabet, and we all know how much better their schools are...

Definitely a lot of country people in Houston. The further east you go in the metro, the scarier the people get. Once you get into Liberty County it's like the movie Deliverance.

Very true.

Cosmopolitan means quite literally "belonging to all the world; not limited to just one part of the world", this nonsense about one group of people being better than another postulated by the ignorant few. The idea that a "mostly white and black" Atlanta is less cosmopolitan than a super majority latino (80+) is quite frankly ridiculous. It is validation of racial superiority to believe so and to use that as an argument for who is more cosmopolitan is quite laughable to highest regard.

That is true, but the same is also true for Atlanta. It's not often mentioned, but Atlanta's Jewish community is one of the largest and oldest in the South. When it comes to the history of the city and specifically the Civil Rights movement, Jews have played an integral role in leadership and partnership.

Also, the European population in Atlanta is quite large and essentially equal with Miami though Miami is slightly ahead as of the '09 ACS (specific demographic information for 2010 Census will not be released for a few more months). Brits, French and Germans are particularly fond of relocating to Atlanta. Especially Brits. However it doesn't stop there. Atlanta's Asian (7th largest population in the United States and about 4 times larger than Miami's Asian population), and Native African (3rd largest population in the United States) populations round out what is a melting pot of different people that call Atlanta home. We truly are a exceptional diverse city in both ethnic and national aspects.

Miami on the other hand is exceptionally diverse in country of origin. While Miami is 85% Latino and ethnically homogenous in the American sense, it's latino population is incredible diverse. It is the true metropolis of the Caribbean and holds a place in the Latino American experience in the same way Atlanta holds a place in the African American experience.

It can not be denied that what makes Miami cosmopolitan is that it is a city that is Pan American in it's foreign born population with a focus on the Latino Diaspora while what makes Atlanta cosmopolitan is it's Pan Global foreign born population with it's focus on the African diaspora. In other words we cancel each other out with our strengths.

Besides, anyone trying to play Miami against Atlanta is barking up the wrong tree. Our two cities are like family. Miamians love coming to Atlanta and Atlantans love going to Miami. I really feel no hate between the two and it's residents and the idea that there is makes me guffaw.
