of these two cities
which in your opinion has the nicest, and best skyline

I believe Chicago does with the sears tower and the well designed John Hancock
Also the Trump tower is going up on the river as well as the proposed chicago spire which is expected to be 2000 feet high .

Default Chicago hands down

Chicago wins hands down. As a native Chicagoian living in NYC for 4 yrs, I still miss the Chicago skyline. And best of all you can enjoy it while driving down Lake Shore Drive on a beautiful summer day with the lake in the background. You can't enjoy the Manhattan skyline unless you are in another borough or across the Hudson in Jersey.

NYC for size, Chicago for aesthetics. It feels more "open" in Chicago and I like its architecture a little better. But NYCs is just gigantic, far superior in size.

My answer? Both. I cant decide.

I fell in love with NYC the first time I went there and I can't wait to go back. New York for me any time.

I lived in NYC for 8 years...loved the skyline...massive and powerful...but, I also lived in Chicago for a couple of years and I fell in love with their skyline set against Lake Michigan. I also think the architecture is more appealing in Chicago so it gets my vote! The Chicago Spire is only going to enhance what is already a terrific skyline, IMHO.

The Chicago Spire. Inspired by nature, imagined by Calatrava

No comparison, NYC hands down. Chicago has a nice skyline but that isnt THAT important to me, I would rather live in NYC without a question.

NYC skyline = quantity. Chicago skyline = quality.

The above statement is my opinion. So please don't trot out "statistics" and "rankings" about how NYC's skyline is of a better quality (these are the CityData forums after all, and God knows there are many who treat opinion as fact).

IF I had to choose between the two as a place to live, I'd pick Chicago hands down. But I don't, so I won't.

I think Chicago does, BUT! thats only because the architectue in NYC is the oldest and Chicago became a city after NYC did. I mean, the second try comes out better than the first time right?

but seriously who cares about the skyline, I would rather live in NYC because theres more to the city then Chicago.

I've only been to Chicago, and I thought the skyline was great, and comparing pictures I still think Chicago's is better. But actually I think these two cities skylines are good in thier own ways. You can't really compare them because they don't really have any simmilarities. Most of New York City's buildings look older, while many of Chicago's buildings have a newer feel to them.New York City definetly has more buildings through.I still go with Chicago through.

Chicago's is nicer, New York's is bigger. If I'm in the relaxed mood, I want a nice skyline--Chicago, If I'm in the crazy mood, I want massiveness--NYC.
