Which cities are most desirable to all you posters? Explain what qualities and cities are most desirable to you using QOL, COL, weather, scenery, employment, transit, etc. Only discuss cities mentioned on poll, k thanks
I could not vote. There was no option for other.
I would chose Madison, WI.
I hear ya, but only asking about selective cities on the poll. Which one(s) on the poll do you like best and what criteria would you say make it desirable?
I voted SF because it's urban, scenic, progressive (probably too much for me, but oh well), has great weather (if you like it cool, not cold), has great neighborhoods, great food, and it's dynamic. Others that I considered were DC and Boston. But none of those are bad choices as far as I'm concerned except maybe Orlando.
Seattle for me, where I recently relocated. Many people dislike it because of the cloudy damp climate but I prefer a cool moist climate as opposed to bitter cold or searing heat. Seattle area has the perfect weather for me. Other factors include higher earning potential, a higher proportion of people who are educated and career-oriented, great urban environment in downtown Seattle, the diverse music scene, suburban areas are clean, green and friendly, and the scenery is fantastic.
Seattle would be interesting to live in, but I hate rainy days. Seattle actually doesn't get more rain than other cities in terms of actual precipitation, but they get more rainy days.
If I had to move, I'd probably head to Chicago. I'm definitely a big city type of person and the midwest has always been fun to travel to.
On this list, the most desirable to me would be Denver, Seattle and San Diego. Seattle would win as far as cultural amenities go and for its progressive attitude, San Diego wins for weather, Denver for price & for its more central location. I like the size of all 3 cities (neither too big nor too small) and they all offer a wide variety of things to do, especially outdoors, and attract people who are into living a fit and healthy lifestyle. They definitely all have drawbacks as well...can't think of any city that would ever satisfy me 100%.
I voted for Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia, San Fransisco, San Diego, Boston, and Seattle.
Those seemed to be the sort of cities City-Data members seem to like.
