Those two cities are exactly so alike so I can't tell which one is better (j/k, lol). ATL wins in all categories except COL, but ATL is not that expensive either.

I'll add a few categories:

Weather-ATL
Sports-ATL (except for hockey, which ATL might lose the Thrashers)

Detroit would certainly have a very valid argument about sports...and architecture and food.

Well now that Atlanta has lost the Thrashers, Detroit is and has been more of a hockey town, which makes sense given its location. The Tigers are going to the World Series. With architecture, Detroit does have some classic art deco style, while Atlanta is mostly modern/post-modern. With food, I can't think of anything that defines Detroit. It is known for Italian and Greek cuisine, and Coney Island hot dogs.

What are you talking about?

How are Atlanta and Detroit exactly alike? You couldn't find 2 cities that contrasted more if you tried.

Atlanta is a southern appalachian boom town that has exploded over the past 40 years. Detroit is an industrial, midwestern rust belt city that has imploded over the past 40 years.

Atlanta and its suburbs are largely integrated. Detroit and its suburbs are largely segregated.

Atlanta is a mostly hilly inland city located at the base of a mountain chain. Detroit is mostly flat, and sits on a major river that connects with two of the Great Lakes, as well as another country.

Atlanta relies on many industries to drive its economy. Detroit relies largely on one.

Atlanta is the capital of its state. Detroit is not the capital of its state.

Atlanta is a national and international transportation hub. Detroit no longer is, with the exception of the international bridge crossing.

You obviously know NOTHING about sports if you're saying Atlanta is a better sports town. Detroit has been the greatest sports town on earth for over 100 years, chock full of history, tradition and championships. Atlanta has lost two NHL teams, can't even sell out playoff baseball games, and has one championship in its entire history, which came on the heels of a strike shortened baseball season in 1995. There's absolutley NO comparison when it comes to sports.....get it??

These are just the differences I can think of off the cuff. Holy moly.....

How 'bout PIZZA, bro?? Ever heard of Little Ceasars? Dominos? Jets?

Slows BBQ? Bates and Brays Hamburgers? Vernors pop? Faygo?

SOME art deco? More like a collection of art deco on par with Chicago and New York.

And.....it took Atlanta losing the Thrashers and the Tigers making another World Series to give Detroit the edge in sports?

REALLY?

Even though I hate Atlanta, and think it should be bulldozed because of it's ghetto people..You can't even walk down a street in Detriot without worrying about being shot up.

I didn't say they were gourmet. They're good enough to be multi million dollar enterprises, though. People wouldn't eat it if they didn't like it.
