Atlanta's NHL team is moving to Winnipeg. A formal announcement is expected on Tuesday. So, which is the better city?

For real??? Already!!!???

Winnepeg shouldn't be compared with Atlanta on almost any level, but it is leaps and bounds a better hockey city and would be a great fit for the NHL (no offense to ATL).

I just can't believe ATL lost their NHL team already!!

As a city, Atlanta wins. As a hockey city, winnipeg wins hands down. Hockey is religion up in Canada. You cant really compare a sunbelt expansion team/city to any city in canada. I do feel bad for thrasher fans in Atlanta though. They just got their rug pulled from right under them. No formal goodbye, no thank you to the fans, no final game for fans, no nothing. And to think nhl is losing money and going above and beyond the extra mile to save another unlucrative team in phoenix is beyond me, and quite unfair to the atlanta fanbase. If I was a thrashers fan, I'd probably never watch another nhl game ever.

As city vs city, its kind of hard to compare a metro of over 5million to a metro under 700,000.
Atlanta probably beats winnipeg in every criteria save perhaps crime/safety. Also weather wise, Winnipeg winters can make Chicago winters feel like childsplay. Winnipeg is the coldest city in the world with a population over 600,000.

So maybe Winnepeg could be compared with other US Midwestern cities since it's on Canada's prairies? Atlanta, well that's just kinda silly.

Yea, because it is frozen 5 months out of the year. Atlanta and other southeastern franchises are not hockey land. We are already getting tans in February.

I think Atlanta blows Winnipeg out of the water in all of the OPs categories.

I love hockey but I would still rather live in Atlanta. Winnipeg is just too cold. It is nice in the summer though and a good city for it's size.
