The subject of this thread pre-supposes the possibility of a total collapse of non-industrial businesses. This is a fallacy. Technological innovation is the future and as more cities embrace this the more that will be come less dependent on single industries. It also pre-supposes the possibility of businesses collapsing because a city collapses. On the contrary, it is likely because it simply relocated elsewhere in the nation. See Boeing's move to South Carolina because of the pesky unions in WA state.
So this thread's logical basis that any one city can just "vanish", taking with it its industries. Barring a major global catastrophe this isn't very likely.
