Good comparison! If we are talking just the city then san antonio. The highway system is built for a much larger metro.

Not really close. San Diego feels larger. But both are great cities.

San Diego has a bigger skyline, metro, city pop. for both is pretty close. San Antonio has a more touristy downtown while San Diego's downtown has more residences and condos. Just about most if not all of San Antinio's suburbs are within its city limts where San Diego's stretch up to OC, east to El Cajon and north up to Temecula and probably growing a bit further. In the end, San Diego is, looks, and feels larger than San Antonio.

SA feels more like a small town.
Only good thing going for it are the highways.

San Antonio for freeways, traffic, & a lively historic downtown.
San Diego for nightlife.

Maybe on a social level, but really San Antonio does feel like a bigger city than it really is.

driving threw or living there???
all the long time SA residents I met said they liked SA because of the chummy attitude of the residents. People get to know each other a lot there kinda like they do in small towns. Also things are so slow paced to me.
on a whole it seemed more like a small town that goes on and on and that has lots of freeways

yeah, socially. And overall minus the freeways. SA by no means feel like the 7th biggest city in the US. NO way does SA feel bigger than Dallas. SA feels more like Fort Worth. SO I disagree on it being bigger. Smaller on the scale of FW or maybe Austin.
