I heard Chicago has more now (?) and there are gangs across the whole country. But Los Angeles still has more then its fair share. Here is a list of some of LA gangs.

Btw, here is the Gangs of New York. Its about New York gangs in the early to mid 1800s. Because after all, like 8to32characters said, New York is older, grittier and rundown! Perfect for a Hollywood movie!

Do you know anything about California? Because if you knew anything at all, you'd know that everything above is wrong.

My goodness, you've clearly never been to California. A few mountains make CA famous? If anything, the three things CA is most famous for are the Transamerica Pyramid, the Hollywood Sign, and the Golden Gate Bridge. Yes, CA is known for its great weather, beautiful beaches and fantastic scenery. Los Angeles alone has more museums than New York City--ever heard of LACMA, La Brea Tar Pits, the Getty, Griffith Observatory, or the Japanese American National Museum? Just to name a few. BTW, actually, CA is the wealthiest state in the nation and by far more beautiful than NY. Although I'd say the prettiest states in the nation are Hawaii and Alaska, with Oregon and Washington not far behind either.

Another reason CA is better is because it has not just one, but TWO world-class cities, and America's Finest City, a premier vacation destination, to boot! NY only has New York City--nobody really cares about Albany or Buffalo. California has Los Angeles and San Francisco, and then San Diego.

It's not really a contest. California wins.

Native Upstate New Yorker voting California without hesitation.

California destroys New York in all but one thing: having NYC.

Yeah as a Native Greater New York area, it pretty much does. However upstate NY is a great place for scenic trips and nice summer getaways. California has more to offer as a state.

city wise, NYC trumps any city in the country. but if we're talking about entire "state", california wins easily. outside of the NYC area, the state of new york is depressing and declining. in fact, New Jersey and connecticut are in much better shape and more successful than most of NY state. meanwhile cali has LA, SF, SJ, and SD. that's pretty good
