True theyre both tourist towns and I've had the blessing to have lived in both of them. I lived in Orlando most of my life and consider it to be my hometown
I have been in Las Vegas for a year and I feel like I've done everything I wanted to when I first got here and now I feel like Im ready to go home
If I DO decide to go home, I plan to go back to school and most likely get a hospitality degree.Im not sure what I want to do. Im a young 21 yr old guy, btw with the exception of my gf, all my friends and fam are in Orlando
But based on things like quality of life, pay scales, actual job opps, traffic among other things. Which city do you think is a better one to live in?
We post in the Orlando Forum a lot. I thought about living in Vegas too. But that one line you said should have done it all for you.

That here my friend is your own answer. See I still live in Orlando after 20 years (Im 20) and I have not done everything yet. I know I have not. I have not even been to all the disney parks yet to give you an example. I have not seen or done everything on International or the Space Coast, or around the Metro in general. You know with Orlando there is always something new happening, being built, planned, etc. I HATED Orlando for the past 3-4 years but it has gotten back on track now. I still debate moving but Orlando will always be a place I'd stay because it is a friendly city for fun and opportunity esp Hospitality.
I would probably chose Las Vegas. It has more of the outdoor lifestyle, which you can enjoy 8-9 months out of the year, when its not too hot. In addition, the casinos have attracted more world class restaurants, shopping and shows (Cirque Du Soleil).
Orlando is more family oriented. Las Vegas was sin city for a while then it turned family oriented in the 1990s after the Mob influence waned, but now it is back on track as a playground for adults.
I find Orlando very tranquil and boring, but that being said, some people prefer that. I just find it very white picket fence, suburban, family of 4, minivan, 3 bed 2 1/2 bath house like. Very chain restaurant like. Go to Chilis on a Friday night, TGI Fridays on Saturday, etc.

Thats the thing with me FloridaBorn. I lvied in Orlando from 1995-2001 and again from 2005-2010 and I STILL have yet to experience a good part of Orlando and the rest of FL I always dreamt of seeing
I've never been to South Florida and have always dreamed of going one day. I've never been to the Gulf Coast beaches, I've never been to Key West or Panama City, or Sanibel, etc I could go on. Living in Orlando a majority of that is less than 6 hours away
However I could say the same for Las Vegas. The Grand Canyon, Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Zion Nat'l Park
I got everything I wanted in Las Vegas. A fun job at a major hotel on the strip, a beautiful apartment, and a wonderful girl. I also fulfilled another travel dream of mine to visit Los Angeles (been there 2x already, gf is from there)
I think I want to come home and experience the rest of Florida that I have always wanted to
Both Orlando and Las Vegas are playgrounds, not really true big cities.
If I had to choose between the two I would pick Las Vegas, I like how almost everything is open 24-7.
I also prefer the warm dry climate over Florida's warm muggy climate.
I'm also a little more familiar with Las Vegas, I have been there quite a few times and am used to where things are and the street layouts.

The both have multiple highways that criss-cross and circle around them, there are big morning and evening rushes on these highways, there are parks, musuems, schools, banks, malls, restaurants, grocery stores, everything any other major city would have, including major airports

They grew to big-city size mostly because of the playground attractions.
Both places don't have the diversified neighborhoods or the urban vibrancy that many large cities are known for, the Vegas strip is really just a large tourist and entertainment mecca that looks like a large vibrant city but is really quite superficial.
Jobs are mostly low-paying service-level and there are hardly any large industrial or financial institutions based in either place.
Any suburban area can have parks, musuems, schools, banks, malls, restaurants, and grocery stores. Both Orlando and Las Vegas are very suburban-styled in their design and appearance.
I love Orlando, I would choose it in a heartbeat. Orlando is really great in a lot of aspects.
- Dirt, dirt cheap housing oppurtunities all over the city.
- Shopping, dining and entertainment unlike anywhere else on Earth. Some of the best meals I've ever had, and I have been many, many places, have been in Orlando. Always great service too.
- Nice people. I have met a lot of people while visiting Orlando. A lot of them had moved to Orlando and absolutely love it.
- Great weather all year around. It does get very, very hot and humid in the summer, but unless you are in a city like Portland, Seattle, Boston or further north, you cannot really escape the heat and humidity. It's only a few months really. I know many people from Orlando that do not own a heavy coat.
These are a lot of great aspects for me. Las Vegas is nice, do not get me wrong, but I would prefer living in Orlando. They are very comparable, but like said before, Las Vegas is more adult-friendly and Orlando is more family-friendly. Plus, you could buy season passes to Walt Disney World!
