Happy 4th C-D posters! I have to plug my hometown of Detroit here. The Freedom Festival Fireworks on the Detroit River is one of the largest displays in the world and draws over 1 million viewers on the Detroit side of river alone. Altogether, Detroit and Windsor jointly host a several day long international festival, which draws over 3.5 million visitors each year. It's pretty impressive and downtown Detroit is crowded with people from Joe Louis Arena to the shores of Belle Isle park.

Detroit's seems to be one of the biggest I'd ever witnessed. At first I thought, just another fireworks show, but we got there and it was nonstop fun. Perfect location too, right on the Detroit River.

I watched DC's, New York's, and Boston's last night on TV. I was actually least impressed by New York's of the three, as the fireworks couldn't hold a candle to the massive skyline (maybe turn off the lights just for the fireworks?), and the musical entertainment quality wasn't as good. DC's entertainment was just as good as Boston's (including Steve Martin and Little Richard), but the fireworks are a bit too short and not as impressive as Bostons; the end of the national anthem builds up the final "free" big note several times with rounds and rounds of impressive fireworks and made me cry like a kid!

With me it's a tie between New York City and Washington.

I watched the New York celebration last night, it was spectacular except I wish they would have played more traditional patriotic band music instead of Beyonce and country songs.

Fireworks Finale! | Video | 6abc.com

Big boom and bright finale starting at around 2 minutes of the video - Have always the parkway and art museum backdrop for the fireworks

Oakland is so dayum ridiculous when it comes to illegal fireworks on the 4th of July.
Hello? This is supposed to be hundreds of feet away from homes, trees, cars etc. LOL.
