LOL!!! Now I'm convinced you're just a troll. You have no credibility whatsoever. Tenderloin denser than Harlem, huh? I'll have to file that one under the "all time dumbest statements made on C-D" along with (1) Cleveland having a larger banking industry than Charlotte and Chicago and (2) Midtown Atlanta being more walkable with more public transit options than Back Bay, Boston.

Whew! I've heard it all on here. It's amazing the stupid stuff homerism makes people say.
Some people are just poor sports.

Harlem Population Density Per city-data.com: 55,760

Tenderloin Population Density Per city-data.com: 71,959

I realize you guys do serious NY stroking but I didnt realize it was actually worship.

LOL.

And the tenderloin district in your link is .35 sq miles versus 3.88 sq miles for Harlem more than ten times larger in area. Also reduced to the tracts around the Northwest portion of Central park there is significantly larger area of significantly higher ppsm. But again we all agree that the tenderloin has an uber high and small footprint that exceeds that of Philly.

And this isnt even the densest part of Manhattan

Harlem is the densest part of Manhattan. There are areas with taller buildings, but Harlem's housing projects by far make it the densest residential area of New York City.

I started a new thread about this just to see how far the delusion truly extends.

"desperate and trite" - And yet I must me some kind of mad genius, as I have apparently discovered a view of SF, previously unknown to man, that makes the city look bad? That is delusional, I was aiming the virtual camera at each cities CBD, placing the top of each of the tallest buildings just above the horizon line. That's all I was doing, certainly I didn't try to find the most flattering view of Philly, either... but to imply that I somehow deliberately found a particular, unflattering view of SF just to make a point is facetious.

My shot. A rooftop panorama of Center City at night:

Midtown Manhattan. Exactly which part of SF is supposedly denser?

There are plenty of small Manhattan neighborhoods smaller than the Tenderloin in fact, that are more dense than Harlem as well.
http://www.city-data.com/nbmaps/neig...-New-York.html

You guys are holding SF to a stricter standard.

How is this relevant to the conversation?

rah made a correct statement. The Tenderloin is more densely populated than Harlem. Is it bigger? No, but overall, it is more densely populated.

Just like a long list of smaller neighborhoods in Manhattan are more dense than Harlem.

That just means you're conceited.

Funny, if you are from Oakland, then that's the view of SF you see every day. Perhaps familiarity breeds contempt?

In any event:

I did some research using city-data.com-using SFs current population density of 17,127 as a benchmark, I compiled a list of neighborhoods in each city that had densities in excess of 17,127 persons per square mile and here are the results:

Cool pics but outside of a few there are comprable areas in Philly. For the record i agree the tenderloin is more dense than any single area in Philly but again that is not all or nearly all of even the central part of SF

Reversing the view, and making sure Philly looks as unflattering as possible. I object to the idea that 'most urban' is now being defined as the city with neighborhood that happens to be the densest by some random metric.
