Just curious, have you ever been to the Jersey Shore?

I will say that the golfing in Myrtle is far better.

My in-laws live near MB. I agree - it's pretty tacky:

The Jersey Shore by a very, very, very large margin. Not even sure what the "Grand Strand" is beyond a marketing moniker.

The Jersey Shore, warts and all, is the best beach area in the continental US. The barrier islands, broad beaches and jetties, history, wetland and bird marshes, causeway, charming but local tacky, lack of franchises (LBI), names like Ship Bottom and Surf City and Harvey Cedars. I'd put Jersey Shore one-on-one against any beach area in the US.

I love the Jersey Shore & will defend it to the death, but I think Hawaii might have something to say about that statement right there.

The Grand Strand was a lot better when the Pavilion was open. I think it is great for kids though. There is an abundance of mini-golf, water slides and gokarts. You could easily not repeat a water slide or mini-golf course over a 2 week period.

Also, Brookgreen Garden (http://www.brookgreen.org/horticulture.cfm - broken link) is one of the best attractions in the South East. Where else can you find alligators and sculpture?

that's only a very small part of the jersey shore.
LBI is beautiful and full of people with class and dignity.
