For the kind of regional cuisine that I like, plus great gourmet and world cuisine, Houston is the best in the nation

Everything I love is in H-town. Barbecue, tex-mex, soul food, cajun, Chinese

I love those things too, and had a hard time choosing between Houston and Dallas. BBQ & Tex Mex are my favorites.

Grapico, I believe you are speaking of New Orleans? I agree with you, New Orleans is overrated in the food/restaurant scene. I don't enjoy jambalaya, sweet tea, gumbo, dirty rice, catfish poboys, crawfish or any type of greased up fried southern dish with a slice of pecan pie on the side for dessert. My top three dining cities in order would be New York, Chicago and Philadelphia because I could eat Italian food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

My only disappointment in the cheap food category was Chicago hot dogs, I guess I like my Nathan's or Sabrette, with natural casing.

Philly has byzantine liquor laws that created an unusually large and high-quality collection of BYO restaurants. That's a high point of the city but they are all tiny places. Little Fish comes to mind when I think of a budget, top quality meal.

I will also nominate Philly for best burger, seriously. I did a burger roundup and never in my life have I had such great examples of the sandwich. The ultimate? The 1/2 pound 'Supper Burger' Supper Philly Dinner
Lol, a real Chicago hot dog is supposed to have natural casing(Vienna beef).

Sweet tea in New Orleans? Haha, where? Maybe at Popeye's... No need to speak ignorantly just to prove a point...stick with what you know.
