Madame Walker Theater, Crispus Attuck Museum, Black Expo, African Festival, Circle City Classic, Indiana Avenue Renaissance Festival, the Essence Fest are just a few events sponsored by and for African Americans. That is just off the top of my head.

Ibe is year round for events and functions. Summer celebration is the main event though followed by circle city classic weekend. Never seen nor heard anything in cbus which would remotely come close to indiana black expo. It is the largest aa event nationwide so dy has a very valid point.

AS i said

Yes, Indy's main county, Marion, is also blue but has 911,296 residents compared to Columbus' very blue franklin county with 1,178,799 residents.

So the 90 percent in marion (indy) county and franklin (columbus) county means more voters in franklin (columbus) voted for obama, and a larger percentage of the metro.

Thus more of Columbus' metro, including suburbs, are included in its very blue main county.

Second, the exurban counties around Columbus voted for Romney, but Obama has 10-20 more points than the exurban Indy counties. So not only is more of Columbus' city liberal it also has a more liberal metro (even exurbs)

By simply using the metric of votes for "obama" you realize that Columbus has more people voting in that 60 county percent and has more democratic votes outside the main county. So the Columbus metro is still more liberal.

Check your facts next time you visit I'll take you on a crazy liberal tour of cbus. By the end of the night you'll be a gay, liberal, hipster and wanting to run back to indy. We welcome you with open hippie arms

Ok but many publications have listed Columbus as a top city for African Americans as well, in addition to that THe black Enterprise Conference will be held in Columbus this summer. Im not arguing the Fact that Indy has many black institutions and events, however to make blanket statements such as Columbus doesnt cater to the African American Demographic is just utter ignornance better yet stupidity.

Not to mention Columbus has had a black democratic mayor since 2000. And a city council that is all democrat and is usually half or 40 percent black. This in a city that is about 27 percent black (about the same as indy).

Then this democrat and African american led mayor has been creating gay friendly policies like a citywide domestic partner registry (in absence of equal marriage on the state level) which shows how all groups can get along and function well in some cities, even if there are "sterotypes" that these groups usually do not get along. That is the Columbus way though. The city is very accepting of all diversity. And this is reflected in it's liberalness.
It is interesting.

And Indianapolis isn't accepting lol? I still don't get why you guys are arguing like Columbus is San Francisco. Columbus is not WAY more liberal than Indianapolis. It is more liberal, just not significantly so. The only thing even making it more liberal is the fact that Ohio State is there.

l
Is that your rebuttal? I didn't say Columbus didn't cater to the African American demographic. I said that the African American community in Indianapolis is more engaged. Columbus isn't in the same hemisphere as far as an engaged African American community.
