All of which are closer to Lufkin growth wise than Tyler.
The comparison came from dee936 saying Lufkin/Nacocdoches is bigger & growing faster than Tyler/Jacksonville, which its not.

Smith County (Tyler's MSA) - 210,000

Angelina County (Lufkin's MSA) - 84,000

Why did u lie Metro matt I didn't say that Lufkin was bigger in population.I said down town don't have anything to do with economic growth.
Solitare I didn't compare Lufkin to Huntsville evidently u did,and the mistype of leaving off the e was very halarious to u ha ha ha.
An annie find a better joke,I didn't say that Lufkin was Austin.
Lufkin to be around 40,000 people has almost everything Tyler has and other business as well. All I am saying is that for Lufkin to have 40,000 people it has almost every thing of a town of 96,000 has thats all I am saying.......................................:tape ::ma d:

And I don’t think you understand Athens is a Satellite city of Atlanta. A Satellite town is a city with a metropolitan that abuts a larger one. Metro Atlanta already boarders Metro Athens, once you get outside the eastern suburbs your in the Athens area. Otherwise culturally they already connected but two different places for instance media wise Athens is Athens, Atlanta is Atlanta, but a larger number of the media that says Athens is located or broadcast in the Atlanta area. Houston would have a problem.

Anyways going to Lufkin from Houston is like going from Atlanta pass Athens on to South Carolina actually. How ever going to Atlanta to Athens is like from Houston stopping in Huntsville TX, actually Huntsville is little too far, but Galveston is would be a little too close. So again Houston growing to Lufkin is like Atlanta sprawling out to SC in area, Houston would have a problem then.

Looking it up. Huntsville and Athens are about the same distance from the major cities. Athens being a tad bit farther.

Lufkin is a fast growing city and Houston is a super fast growing city,Atlanta have zoning boundries there.

Lufkin/Nacogdoches area

Nacogdoches county 65,000
Angelina county 86,000
area combined 151,000
Add universrty then the number flock to 165,000
It is amazing when you're so use to being in a larger state with large cities we don't get it confused with a midsize area and a metro.IF Athens was in Texas it wouldn't be consider to people as a metro working by it self...........
A city like Atlanta that annex's maybe 15-20 square miles at a time can't compete with citys of Texas that annex 25-50 square miles at a time.
People turn it in to a feud when you're comparing Georgia and Texas why I don't know Because Texas has been in this game a long time.......

It's become clear that this thread is nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt by one person to do some chest thumping over one town. Thread closed.
