KC has a fantastic downtown library in a history building and KC's 30 story art deco city hall is cool too, not that anybody really gives a crap about a city hall. Every city has one you know. They are just office buildings.

Downtown KC has both the City Market and Power and Light "District" not "station". And yea, it cost the city to help build it (city just built the public garages and rebuilt all the roads etc), but it's been very successful and it's very popular on weekends and it too is open till early hours.

Downtown KC has the Kauffman Center for performing arts, Crown Center, Union Station, National WWI Museum, Liberty Memorial, Legoland, Aquarium, College Basketball hall of fame, Midland Theatre,
American Jazz Museum, Negro leagues baseball Museum, Steamboat Arabia Museum, Money Museum, Airline History Museum, a huge art gallery district, Science City.

San Jose doesn't even compare to Downtown KCMO. Look at the photos on the previous page. Downtown KCMO looks like Chicago or NYC compared to San Jose lol.
Didn't you say in your recent posts that Downtown Kansas City is lacking and struggling? Downtown San Jose is booming.

maybe since this one isn't going well for you, you could start a San Jose vs Bismark to achieve your desired results

Downtown Kansas City is not Crown Center. Crown Center is 1 mile away. Lots of attractions you mentioned are not downtown. They're just outside downtown. You even admit Downtown Kansas City is struggling in vitality and is not all you're saying about downtown now. The high rises you mentioned are not in downtown. They're in Crown Center, areas in between and Country Club and were built before in the past, older residential towers and towers built in the 60's and 70's. The high rises downtown are converted towers from old office to residential. Downtown KC only has one new one and another underway by Cornish. Face it: downtown is pretty much dead with pockets of activities in surrounding areas and the struggling(still in huge debt, sorry) Power light District. San Pedro Sq. and SoFA are booming entertainment areas Downtown SJ and no debt, period. Paseo De San Antonio is like France Row with cafe' shops, bakeries, theaters and coffee houses. Cesar Chavez Park is an interactive park with water fountain, seatings, entertainment and beautiful lighting. There's no way Downtown Kansas City is even in par with this downtown.

Compared to Denver, Seattle etc yes, it's coming around very slowly. Compared to San Jose?

Well, you really can't compare the two. San Jose is a totally different built environment.

Kansas City has a more traditional urban core and downtown than San Jose. San Jose is more suburban yet it has a downtown area. San Jose is VERY different from KC. KC is much closer to Denver or even Seattle compared to San Jose even though KC does not compete with those cities anymore.

I like San Jose for what it is. The downtown area is relatively busy because it's surrounded by large intact neighborhoods. Single family suburban neighborhoods, but still.

Now, we're clear: Kansas City does have a nice urban core areas: Country Club Plaza, Crown Center, between areas with shops, entertainment and etc. and downtown. I like KC for what it is. It's a different beast. San Jose has an established vibrant main downtown area with some urban core coming in place but not yet connected and complete: Japan Town, Alameda St area with Whole Foods next SAP, and Willow Glen(one and half mile away from downtown and is disconnected from it, though they're building a lot of apartments that will link it eventually).

Agree, it's a nice livable urban/suburban area that's walkable and rather vibrant. You can live in a highrise or a single family home and still be able to walk to work etc. I never said it wasn't. It's just totally different than KC.
