You know what, the more I think about it, I'm so freakin' happy that Orlando is not New York. Personally, I can't stand winter and while the great people of NYC spend winter cold, inside, or all bundled up, I'll be surfing, wakeboarding, and hitting up some of the greatest theme parks on earth. Great beaches are less than an hour away, vast amounts of natural experiences are within 30 minutes, and for day to day living, Orlando the City offers quite a bit more than people expect. So yeah, if we are doing yet another City Data size is king thread, then NYC all day, but if we are looking at lifestyle preference, I think an excellent counter case for Orlando (or any other city for that matter) can be made.

Actually no it doesn't lol. But while we're in the middle of throwing around unfounded stereotypes, at least my city doesn't remind me of the side of Rice a Roni box and Full House. Give me a break, NYC is a great town, but that doesn't take away from what Orlando is.

Orlando? Anywhere USA? What percentage of the US has a significant amount of Palm Tree coverage and Spanish-style houses?

This is why everyone is entitled to their opinion because I'm happy NY is not Orlando.

Theme Parks? No thanks, I am not a child.

NY has good beaches too, within the city limits and all over the metro area. There is not a need to drive an hour for a beach here.

Lifestyle is an opinion. I would take the lifestyle of a urban center any day over a small/southern metro area centered around Mickey Mouse and the next boom of snowbirds shopping for a vacation house.

We differ greatlly upon preferences for living, but anyone would be a fool to deny both cities are worth the money for vacations.

I live in Florida and I must say that Orlando is the weakest link in the Florida chain simply because it is nothing but commercial chains and the people there suck...none of them are actually from Florida and the few that are hate Orlando. It's not a bad city but in comparison to what Florida has to offer it sucks. If this was Miami vs NY then I'd say Miami by far but I'd have to say that Orlando is not strong enough to take on NY. Orlando may win in weather, and attractions but thats about it.

And I would say that you have a right to your opinion. But I don't think by any sense of the meaning does Miami by far beat NY in anything. But that is just my personal opinion. I am not a NYC homer, but lets be real here. Miami has some nice beaches and a very decent nightlife for a city of its size. But dellusions of grandeur aside, it wouldn't even compete with Chicago a city much smaller but similar to NYC in any of these major categories.

What I'm thinking you meant was that you just like Miami by far much better than NYC. Which is your opinion and that is perfectly fine.

I'd rather live an hour from some of the nations greatest beaches, than live 15mins from some mediocre beaches. That's just me though. NYC is NO DOUBT, a waay greater city, but beaches aren't something that it wants to be compared to Florida with. Just enjoy being the superior city.

LMAO @ some of the nations greatest beaches comment. There is not one beach within an hour drive of Orlando that is worth my time.

When did Atlantic City, Wildwood, Cape May, Coney Island, etc become mediocre? They have some of the best boardwalks in the U.S. I would take those beaches any day over Orlando/Tampa beaches.

Florida? The last time I checked the title of the thread states "Orlando vs NYC" and it's cool to me if the metro areas come into the discussion. I was unaware the thread turned into the WHOLE state of Florida vs NYC...... new to me.
