I agree, Seattle is gorgeous. But I would also argue that San Francisco has more than just "some natural beauty". It too has a spectacular setting, just in a different way.

As to the waterfront and in particular the Alaskan Way Viaduct, fortunately that's all about to change.

This is interesting Bill. Is that a canal to the right?

Urban features in Seattle that are anything but ordinary

Gorgeous skyline
Pike Place Market
Space Needle
Olympic Sculpture Park
Pioneer Square
An nice urban fabric of density in downtown and peripheral neighborhoods, with desirable urban/suburban hybrid neighborhoods in the rest of the city (elbow room)
Coffee capital of America
A remarkable foodie and dining city
A plethora of different neighborhoods each with its own character

And there is no denying that Seattle is one of Americas most thriving downtowns compared to many others. It's not San Francisco by any stretch, but to suggest that the city of Seattle as ordinary, well that's just preposterous.

Back to the topic, they are both in spectacular settings, but I prefer the greenery and forested hills of Seattle along with Mount Rainier and the snowcapped mountain peaks in the distance.

Seattle only looks better through a zoom lens, SF's setting is more beautiful in person.

You mean to the left of the picture? That's Port of Seattle. The 10th busiest port in America.

They're going to get rid of the Alaskan Viaduct, and that's the projected image of what it's supposed to look like in that area.
