lmao oh yes. Detroit sucks. Our shopping sucks big time. All 20-30 something malls in the area just completely sucks.
Even Twelve Oaks, Great Lakes Crossing, Partridge Creek, and Somerset:
That is the shi*est mall I have ever seen in my life.
Since Charlotte's shopping is so "world class". How about you name 10 major shopping stores in the Charlotte, NC area that's not in the Detroit area but in most other cities: NYC, LA, Chicago, Atlanta, Mall of America ect... ill wait
I see your largest mall only has 135 stores lmao.
Metro Detroit malls with more stores than your largest mall.
1. Fairlane - 150
2. Great Lakes Crossing- 180
3. Lakeside Mall 150
4. Somerset- 180
5. Twelve Oaks- 200
Yea our shopping freaking sucks gosh. 3 luxury resort casinos with 1 across the river, 4 pro sports teams 3 of them downtown not to mention the colleges, largest island park in America, right across from Canada, world class museums including the largest indoor/outdoor museum in America, countless international type restaurants, events downtown all year round that brings in millions each year, history- I don't even have to go there, countless clubs/bars and parties everywhere. Yea Detroit sucks BIG TIME . Im not even close to being done. And lol you spent a little time on the eastside and think you know all about Detroit? Your ignorant... enough said.

The prudential Center, The NJ Performing arts center, Ironbound (I.E Little Portugal), Rutgers, Branch Brook Park (more cherry blossoms than anywhere else in the nation). The Jersey gardens mall is technically in Elizabeth, but it's basically on the border across from the NWK airport. It attracts a lot of European tourist.
Also, just as a side note- Since people seem to clump Newark along with Gary....

Newark is on a bigger and better upswing than all of the above, but it's still looked at as if it's 1996.

Newark has a major port, a major airport, a good and functional mass transit system, a very good museum and some fairly good universities. In most terms, it's not on the level of Detroit or Cleveland, but it's certainly got the makings of a great mid-sized city. In terms of mass transit (including both its subway and commuter rail) Newark is better than Detroit and arguably better than Cleveland (this because of its commuter rail linkage).
There is a lot for Newark to be proud of, but the last decade where it's started to really pull itself together is probably around the top of the list.

Although I live next to Newark I won't be biased, so here's my list based on research:
1)Cleveland: better transit, stuff to do downtown, lower COL, more nicer areas than the rest.
2)Newark: familiarity, Forest Hill, and BPerone's explanations
3)Detroit: Bad weather, lack of good transit
4)Gary: lol.

lol. That is Detroit for you though. But Detroit 'hoods have nothing on parts of New York, Chicago, LA, for example. Lmao; let him get a taste of a neighborhood in say, East New York, and he will be begging to live in Detroit.

Yes yes, Gary has some issues, some self-inflicted and some aren't but it's still home and I still have fam there. It's definitely #4 on the list as there isn't a tax base but not everyone there lives in some ghetto of one type or another. There are a lot of middle class families, well kept manicured lawns and expensive real estate (Miller Beach) in the city; two ports; areas where you don't have crime just like any other city, Indiana Dunes western border is actually in Gary.

Yeah, agree w/ openheads, I wouldn't consider this an obvious landslide (Gary notwithstanding)
--------------------
PS: for those that don't know, Newark actually does have a metro area (Newark-Union) and is the principal/hub city in said metro division (it includes a county in PA). However, that metro is, quite obviously, a part of the larger NY metro area.
