Cleveland has had quite a contingent of celebrities who have residences in the metro area. Many of these celebrities were also born here, and in later years they maintained homes in primarily affluent areas such as Shaker Heights, Moreland Hills, Hunting Valley, Rocky River, and Bratenahl, just to mention several areas.
Phil Donahue & Marlo Thomas
Hal Holbrook
Patricia Heaton
Debra Winger
Drew Carey
Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward
John Berardinelli ( General Hospital actor )
Kate Jackson
Bob Hope
Eric Carmen
Diana Hyland
Ed Asner
Jim Backus
And many others ...

It does seem like a lot of celebrities would want to live in New York City for obvious reasons. I just dont know if that is enough to outnumber Los Angeles but it doesnt seem like it would be that far behind, maybe. I mean if you got that much money why wouldnt you want to own or even rent a second home in some of the best neighborhoods of New York?
P.S.-Its a rhetorical question.

How is it delusional? Celebrities who do well for themselves generally have several homes and NYC is almost standard for having a residence. Celebrities also aren't just movie/tv celebrities, but also music, news (commentators), writers, journalists, athletes, artists, and the uber-wealthy, and NYC has no shortage of those. This becomes somewhat lopsided when we talk about celebrities from around the world who aren't necessarily huge in the US.

True, except for those who know otherwise or anyone who follows celebrities that are outside the domain of TMZ.
Have Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and Kim Kardashian (though they reside in NYC part time as well). I'll take Malcolm Gladwell, Paul Auster, and Lady Gaga.
I think it's incredibly sad that LA has chosen to forfeit so much of its high culture and actual cultural movers. We use to have Aldous Huxley, Ray Bradbury, Walt Disney and the Doors among others. LA can come back again as the area slowly forfeits its grasp on crap. I have high hopes for the city as a native son.
