Anyway:
Architecture-Mexico City
Arts-Tied.
Culture-Tied.
Dining-Los Angeles
Economy-Los Angeles
History-Mexico City's recorded history goes back nearly 700 years.
Living long term-It all depends. Los Angeles
Museums-Los Angeles
Nightlife-Mexico City
Shopping-Los Angeles
Sports-I dont know.
Transit-Mexico City.
Urbanity-In my experience, The Westside of LA is the most urbane place in North America after Manhattan, and Im pretty sure the area in Mexico City from say Zona Rosa going west through Polanco including the Bosque de Chapultepec(that big park where the President's palace and that big arts center is located) and out to Lomas de Chapultepec, that whole area has got to be one of the most urbane places in North America as well.
Im not too familiar with the area south of Bosque de Chapultepec so Im not sure how urbane it is. But I think there's like an amusement park type place down there if anyone knows the area Im talking about.
Otherwise, many Americans would be surprised to learn of all the creature comforts in the form of American stores and restaurants that are all over Mexico these days.
Vibrancy-Honestly, I think over a wide area, Mexico City stuns every NA city in this regard although the place has become extremely autodependent.
Weather-Los Angeles by a mile.
Vacation-Mexico City cause LA is like home to me.
Overall-to Live, Los Angeles but I wouldnt mind living in Mexico City for a spell. The longest consecutive time Ive spent there is about 1 month and I really liked it.

I would change neocons to Americans in general, but I agree. The amount of ignorance Americans have about a country that is right next to them is staggering... is it really surprising that most Americans couldn't tell you the difference between Palestine and Pakistan when they can't even tell you the difference between Michoacan and Mexico City?

I wouldn't necessarily say it's staggering because I think Americans are pretty knowledgable about Canada...I think Mexico City gets overlooked because there is such a negative connotation with Mexico in the United States.

Mexico City across the board. The only cities I would ever live and choose in America are NYC, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and DC.

Never been to Mexico City, but by all accounts it's an awesome place. Of course I picked L.A. but would love very much to visit MC. It's also very likely the best city for food in North America. At least among foodies, there's very little debate about this.
Edit: Considering the source, this is no doubt meant to be an insult to L.A., but it really isn't. We're talking about two megacities here, they will be comparable in many ways. Don't sleep on Mexico City.
