What constitutes the West Side?

Also pretty unfair, Manhattan by a mile. Maybe north Chicago vs. the Westside would be more even.

Agree very few areas can go toe to toe with the West side of LA.

Manhattan is tough comparator as its make up is so different (as is LA in some ways) but all this is as most things is subjective as some people will choose Booseman MT over either if given the choice.

Nightlife-Manhattan.

Entertainment-Tied.

Economy-Manhattan has more jobs, but the Westside looks and feels far richer overall.

Culture-Tied.

History-Manhattan.

Diversity-Manhattan.

Transportation-Manhattan.

Food-Tied.

Scenery-Westside

Parks-Westside

Other?
Yeah, Urbanity-Westside

I love both, could live in either and be quite happy but if I had to pick between them, Id definitely pick LAs Westside because I think the quality of life is unparalleled. Talk about the good life!

Manhattan crushes the WHOLE city of LA. Not just the west side.

As far as livability, Manhattan and the entire East Coast have no answer for the Westside of Los Angeles-what a laughable comment.

West LA is below Manhattan in every single category except for one or two. The results show the majority feel the same way. I sense a wealth stat coming.

Not at all. Depending on the sort of lifestyle a person wants, every single issue is a tie.

Hinging everything on subjective things such as transit and density is lazy and extremely unimaginative. Most people dont move to LA because they want to live a Manhattan lifestyle and most people dont move to Manhattan to live a Hollywood Hills lifestyle.

I once had some idiot tell me that Westside L.A. is the second most urbane place in North America.

urbane (comparative more urbane, superlative most urbane)
  1. (of a man) Courteous, polite, refined, and suave.
Let's take a look at all these courteous, polite, refined, suave people down at Venice Beach, California.

^ Awesome logic. I guess Harlem represents all of Manhattan. The entire borough is poor and sketchy. What brilliance.
