Wow. Dude. I don't know what to tell you. But London and Paris can INDEED compete with NYC. You are the first person to ever say they couldn't. When it comes to urbanity, these cities along with Tokyo are in tier one.

He must be confusing "skyline" with urbanity. No doubt NYC has a much more impressive skyline than london or paris. But obviously London and Paris are certainly on the same level of urbanity as NYC, anyone who has been to either city can easily comprehend this.
São Paulo feels considerably larger than New York City (which makes sense because it is indeed a considerably larger city). It's ridiculous. I never thought it was possible to find a city that actually felt larger...but I was wrong.
I don't really get the point of this thread though...obviously NYC is larger and more urban than every other city in the US. Did you expect people to say otherwise?
Having flown over Manhattan in a helicopter a number of times I can attest that it is the most glorious sight, beating Big Sur and The Grand Canyon which are two other favorites of mine. It's a very powerful drug. This one was 2004, I can;t wait to do a flight once the WTC site is re-built.

I looked at the other typical suspects that are considered urban - like Chicago, Philli, SF, Boston, DC, and so on. After you look at this video all those other cities are about 1% of NYC on the urban scale!

Yea, Paris and London aren't quite as extensive as NYC since they aren't quite as big...but they're every bit as urban as NYC. They also don't have nearly as much sprawl in the suburban areas though. Tall buildings and urbanity are not synonymous. You don't need tall buildings to be urban, and having tall buildings doesn't make a city urban.
