LOL.

Supposedly last winter was a La Nina year too. We only had 35 inches total last year, and virtually none in two of our snowiest months: March and April.

We are around ~ 32 inches so far this year, and the first day of winter was yesterday.

You have not spent much time in the midwest..check it out for a while..You will be begging for Denver's climate by comparison, Keep in mind much of the midwest is having an especially mild winter thus far, while we are seeing more cold.. Typical Chicago winters are like slamming your hand over and over in the car door.

Let's see....

1. An emergency landing in Minneapolis. During summer.

2. Two layovers in Detroit. During summer.

3. A work road-trip to Kansas City. During summer.

Yeah, you're right.

I'll probably beg for Denver's winter when/if I ever leave, unless somewhere else (in the US, mostly inhabited) gets more snow for a longer period of time and I don't know about it yet.

My pilot friend (mentioned earlier, flies Denver-Chicago and back every night) told me this morning that this was one of those few nights where Chicago had Denver beat weather-wise.

Chicago salts its streets in minutes.
People don't notice overnight snows since they're clear by morning.
It is not much of an inconvinience.

Not much of an inconvenience? Talk to the people who have to dig out their cars after a snow storm, due to plows pushing snow to the curb.

It's not that extreme. You can just drive off.

Denver doesn't even use salt. We use mag-chloride, which is little brown gravelly rocks that just make the snow and the cars dirty, but there's no rusty after-effects.

Denver metro really only plows the main roads, well, because the sun comes out immediately after storms and it would be a waste of money to plow snow that will be melted in a few hours.
