Let's fantasize a bit...
There are theme parks and amusement parks across the nation, but what places could and should open a new theme/amusement park for what reasons and under what themes?

Here's a list of most of the Theme/Amusement parks across the nation. We are talking parks that either focus on roller coasters or some sort of theme, but not the "water parks" (only a select few). Water parks aren't AS KNOWN to draw tourism (although there are some such as Schlitterbahn) as theme parks like Disney and Universal Studios, and Amusement parks like Six Flags and Busch Gardens.

After looking over the list (and please don't waste thread space harping over any parks that were left off the lists below. We're imagining possibilities here...) talk about where you would like to see a new theme or amusement park. Why there? What themes? What kind of rides? What would set it apart? Also, what cities seem to be lacking amusement?

Correction above

There are 4 major theme parks within an hour or so from Philly; many are in striking distance of NYC/Philly/DC/Baltimore Think Hershey is closer to Baltimore than it is to Philly for example (yet within about 2 hours or less from nearly all, maybe a little more from NYC, not totally sure but close to two hours

Also Dorney is another that is both NYC and Philly, nearly equadistant from both

Great Adventure is a disaster, 30 million people live within 100 miles

When I take a look at the list above, one thing jumps out at me...

NO PHOENIX

Then there are a few more that I don't know if they have an amusement park in their metro or not:
Seattle
Portland
Las Vegas (well... kind of, but not one of the listed above)
Memphis
Nashville
Miami
New Orleans
Pittsburgh
Denver (well, there IS a former Six Flags park near downtown Denver...)

Are there (MAJOR) Amusement or Theme Parks near these cities? If so, what?

Pretty sure Knoebels is in the Pittsburgh area, plus Hershey and Cedar Point are not too far from Pittsburgh

"Disney-City" in Las Vegas
"Winter Disney" in Denver

"Busch Gardens America" Saint Louis
"Busch Gardens Asia" in Seattle
"Busch Gardens Oceana" in Phoenix
"Busch Gardens Space" in Houston
"Busch Gardens Arctica" in Alaska

"Six Flags Mile High" in Denver
"Six Flags Nevada" in Las Vegas

"Universal Studios, Vegas" in Las Vegas
"Universal Studios Big Apple" in Brooklyn
"Universal Studios Graceland" in Memphis

"Cedar Fairs @ Stone Mountain Park" in Atlanta

"Schlitterbahn South" in Atlanta (near Galleria Mall along the Chattahoochee River)

Detroit and Salt Lake City could use something big like a Six Flags or a Busch Gardens
Phoenix and Las Vegas could use some huge Wisconsin Dells style Waterparks
