I never said that Mercer ranked Toronto 4th though. I said that The Economist did. The Economist is the world's most respected business magazine.
I'm curious to see where Oakland ranks, lol.
Well, Oakland is more racially diverse than Toronto, probably has a higher educational attainment level as well, and I wouldnt be surprised if Oakland also had a similar proportion of well-to-do residents as Toronto too.

LOL.
Oakland also has massively higher crimes per capita and far more economic diversity (but not necessarily in a good way--more like the US let's people spiral as far down as possible and does a **** poor job of helping people back up)
Toronto ranked the 4th best city in the world in which to live in 2011.
Yea, and I see surveys ranking Providence as having a better cultural scene than LA. If third party surveys float your boat, good on you. When it comes to where I want to live, the only opinion that matters is mine.

Yeah, Oakland has economic diversity such as selling crack to kids on street corners. Not to mention 50 year-old prostitutes.
If people would stop these stupid "Toronto vs." and "Canada vs." threads, than I'd stop "pushing" Toronto on everyone else.
why dont you just realize that Canada is a smaller country than the US so it has less issues to deal with, and less extremes in all aspects of life. So the liveability measures usually favor cities from smaller less populated, more socially-simple countries. In larger countries (like the US, with its large array of cities) there are of course more types of people, often more problems in society- but on the other end of things- also more opportunities in life really..
In other words, Canada is not even in the same league as the US, it is in the same league as Australia! And there's nothing wrong with that.

yes, but I wasnt the one who brought up Oakland. That was Alberta_Born.
Only in criteria which Im sure he never anticipated, Oakland still does pretty well, despite all the negatives which you felt compelled to share in this thread as if people didnt already know that.
In fact, I was the one who brought up things most would never imagine.
I guess it's part of the California educational curriculum to change the subject when you've lost an argument.
LOL...speaking of education, California's universities put Canada's to shame. Its embarrassing.
