St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans. By modern standards, a lot of the houses here are modest in size-the largest is 14,000 square feet- but just google Brown Mansion or Wedding Cake House in New Orleans and you'll see what I mean.

I like the mansions in the Garden District of New Orleans and some of ones in South Florida.

For individual buildings, I'd say the Hearst Castle, Biltmore and Villa Vizcaya are all top notch.

Springfield, Mass. has a lot of large Victorian homes, some are mansions, for affordable prices.

Most cities have mansions but Los Angeles has way more than any other US city.

Cathedral Hill/Summit Avenue in St Paul is a large and well preserved old mansion district that isn't very well known outside of Minnesota. I did a phototour of it a while back:
