Default Sacramento vs. Albany, NY

I thought this would be an interesting comparison because both cities are capitals of populated states in the US. I've lived in Albany for a few years but never been to Sacramento. Despite all it's problems, I'm contemplating on moving to California in a few years because I need a change from New York. I work in public health so most jobs that cater to me would be in the government sector. How would you compare them in terms of:

Economy (both government and private sector)
Weather
Entertainment/Nightlife
Diversity
Arts
Colleges and Universities
Ambiance
Proximity to outdoor activity

Economy (both government and private sector) Sac
Weather Sac (unless you like 4 seasons)
Entertainment/Nightlife IDK
Diversity Sac (one of the most diverse cities in the country)
Arts IDK
Colleges and Universities Tie
Ambiance IDK
Proximity to outdoor activity Sac (American River, Lake Tahoe, etc.)

Sac is a much bigger city than Albany but still not what most people would call a big city... you should probably visit before you move if you've never been to CA, it's a lot different in terms of just about everything.

I don't know, as Albany is within an hour of the Adirondacks, the Catskills and the Berkshires. There are plenty of lakes and rivers close by as well.

Even economy may be iffy, as Albany's metro unemployment rate according to Dec. 2011 was 6.9%.

Colleges and Universities may be a slight edge to the Albany area, with institutions like SUNY-Albany, Union College, RPI and plenty of other smaller, but good Catholic/Private colleges.

Really? It doesn't even have the highest crime rate in Upstate NY. It has crime, but what urban city of a decent size doesn't?
