(with BROAD SWEEPING generalizations, and stereotypes as relayed and viewed by a former Chicagoan, with ALL the ERRORS associated with it, never 100% true I know a number of south-siders who are Cubs fans for example):

South Side vs. North Side:
White Sox vs. Cubs
Poor(er) vs. Rich(er)
Integrated vs. Segregated
Sketchy and worse for wear mass transit vs. well penetrated and clean(er) mass transit
South State St. vs. North State St. even has differences
Financial District vs. Mag Mile
Working man vs. "The Man"

It's also funny that many on the North Side are not so worried about being seen as "suburban" whereas most south-siders (even ones who essentially live in old streetcar suburbs) would daren't say they're suburban.

In Seattle, it's very much a Seattle vs. Eastside rivalry. It can be summed up like this, again with broad sweeping generalizations and all the errors that come with them:

Seattle vs. Eastside:
Ultra-liberal vs. centrist
high(er) density vs. suburban
Amazon.com and other tech companies vs. Microsofties
Seattle vs. Bellevue
Culture vs. Materialism and "sterility"
Middle-class vs. Upper middle to upper class
Eco-friendly vs. pragmatic
A lot of people don't know that the Northside-Southside rivalry in Chicago started because of the gang wars in the early 1900's between Southside and Northside bootleggers and we [The Southside] won that war, took over the city, and established ourselves as that side that people didn't want to deal with. But what we don't like is how Northsiders always try to speak about the city as if they own the town, we're the side who went to war and imposed our will but people turn around and act like we don't deserve the city crown.

And as far as the difference between Northsiders and Southsiders not wanting to be suburban, that's because the Northside has a lot of transplants and people born in the suburbs who come here for college. So much of the Southside is cut off from the amenities and opportunities of the rest of the city that we have a "city within a city complex". Nobody else is as unique as Southsiders, and nobody else in the USA has that same "city within a city" persona like us and wear it with pride. Plus Southsiders tend to be born and raised "realer" Chicagoans or what people examine Chicagoans to be. We built this city, and never got credit. The El Train and Subway, the Sears Tower, the water system between Lake Michigan and the Chicago River, and were all things built or created by Southsiders. The Chicago Loop is south of the river and we don't even get credit for that and it's technically our land.

Southsiders have more local pride, when we go out of town we represent our Side and Chicago. Northsiders don't carry their weight like us away from home so they just say, "I'm from Chicago". When Southsiders go out of town we say, "we're from the Southside of Chicago". We go hard for our side on the Southside and always represent our side even with our clothing. For example, the reason I wear White Sox caps and apparel is not just because they're my favorite baseball team but also because the "SO" in Sox represents my side, the Southside. You don't see ANYBODY in Chicago go as "hard" as us for our side and nobody in America period represents as hard as we do for our city section.

In Toronto we have:

City core vs. the "boroughs" (i.e. North York, Scarborough and Etobicoke - which were part of the upper-tier Metropolitan Toronto which was amalgamated into one city in 1998)

416 vs. 905 (City of Toronto vs. the suburban municipalities in the 905 area code)

East vs. west (this is largely a battle of the city core - in general the west side is more "hip" while the east side feels at the same time ignored by those who never venture east of the Don Valley Parkway and more "authentic")

They each even have their own signature colors, north=blue, south=red.

They might as well be different cities altogether in many respects; indeed, separate the two and they could very well function as large, independent cities of their own (although southsiders would probably contend that the north is more dependent on the south's existence than the other way around). There are folks who grew up on the south side of town who have rarely or never set foot on the north side, and vice-versa.

Back when the Northside & Southside of Houston were at war, it was forbidden for someone from the Northside to be on the Southside and vice versa. Now, Southside folks can come to the Northside and vice versa and there won't be any issue. We aren't on that nonsense anymore, it's all Houston. Both sides of town have some of the oldest black neighborhoods in the country.

Houston's Northside vs. Southside rivalry REALLY did exist. It went on throughout the 90's and ended in 2000 when DJ Screw died. Houstonians know about it:

Houston had a turf war between the Northside and Southside that started from the city's hip-hop scene. Screwed Up Click, a collection of Southside rappers from South Park, 3rd Ward and South Central/South Houston were dominating the city's rap scene for over 10 years. Back then, Swishahouse didn't exist so it was all DJ Screw. From a Northside standpoint, the Northside was seen as gutter and violent, and Southside was more laid back & chill, so some dudes from Rosewood came to the Southside and started robbing Southsiders for their slabs. Southside retaliated by coming to the Northside and robbing Northsiders for their cars as well, and that's when the beef went tit-for-that (decked out old-school cars) Anytime Northsiders would come to the Southside robbing Southsiders for their slabs, they would spray paint Northside on the cars. Also, some guys from the Northside would also steal cars on the Northside and spray paint Southside to confuse folks. There were a group of guys from the Southside that would dress in red, rob other guys from different Southside hoods and spray paint Northside to make it seem like Northside robbed them. Some Screwed Up Click members were robbed by Northside guys for their slabs, so the SUC would get on tapes and talk trash about the Northside, saying "y'all want to come to the Southside jacking, that's ok we got something for y'all" The North Houston vs. South Houston war got out of hand as dozens died behind that war. When Slim Thug and ESG (Houston rap legends) did Braids & Fades together, that was the beginning to the end of the Northside/Southside battle; Slim Thug and ESG did another album together. After Screw died, the Northside vs. Southside Houston war ended as Swishahouse and Screwed Up Click artists started working together. In Houston, the rap scene is more unified among both sides of town. Houston rapper Slim Thug was a major catalyst behind the end of the North/South Houston war because he reached out to ESG (Everyday Street Gangster) for a collaboration album. Going further, you can come down MLK in Houston and see red and blue slabs riding together.

I always felt the largest rivalry in the broughs was Brooklyn and the Bronx with Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island being a little more mutual but Queens leaning on the side of Brooklyn and Upper Manhattan leaning on the side of The Bronx.

Staten Island obviously is on its own unless Jersey wants to step in and help! Lol
