I've watched a YouTube where they track an alligator cruising the waters of Lake Houston...and a picture of a fairly big alligator in someone's backyard in the SW suburbs, where the metro area thins out. I think the critter thought the backyard pool might make a nice pond. Funny...and not so funny.

No, they're in the same world. It's called Earth.

Obviously you've never driven through the Forcefield of Louisiana. It straddles the Sabine.

You mean where the roads are terrible and you're inexplicably depressed until you get to New Orleans? Yes, I'm familiar with that "world".
You know I've got love for the boot, but I'm just about ready for people to get off of this "there's NO, and then there's everyone else" hype. I'd hate for Southeast Louisianans to adopt the same stuck up attitude as Austin and Dalllas.

Took it a little too serious.

If you want a similar feel/weather/food.... Houston. I like Dallas weather better. They are all economic powerhouses new and energetic.

I've been to a few places in SF that serve good creole cuisine and have decent jazz music. The weather in the Bay Area is mild. It doesn't get nearly as hot as New Orleans does in the summer and humidity is a foreign term.
I think San Francisco would be the easiest adjustment.

San Francisco is plenty humid, it's just always cold and breezy so you don't notice it.
I don't know if the weather would be an easy adjustment. I don't like it. Some people are like me and think San Francisco is too cold for too much of the year but others can't get enough of it. NOLA is hot and humid for much of the year so initially they might welcome it but when the months drag by and they can't throw away the jacket?
Overall Houston would be the easiest adjustment, San Francisco only if they want something different.

Both are very small, walkable cities with a lot of people walking and vibrant street life. Not many American cities have that, so they are similar like that.
