I've had nothing but pleasant experiences in both New York and Philadelphia.

I went to a Sox/Phillies game in Philadelphia a few years ago with Sox gear on and no one said an unkind word to me. I was surprised given the horror stories I always hear about Philadelphia fans. It could be that the Sox/Phillies aren't rivals and it was an interleague game early in the season so there's really nothing to get worked up about (this would be the case at Fenway too for Phillies fans), but It was a good experience.

I was in New York City this year for the Superbowl. I usually go to the Ugly Monk when in the city to watch any Boston sports event but I was staying on the Upper West Side so I went to a bar around there. It was packed and I was one of 4 Patriots fans (had my jersey on) in a room full of Giants fans. While we all joked with each other during the game it never got heated. After it was over, I had Giants fans buying me drinks and shaking my hand. I've had the same experience at Yankee Stadium.

In general, walking down the streets, using transit and getting service, I've NEVER had issues in either New York or Philadelphia.
Havent been to an away game at TD Garden or Wells Fargo Center, but id imagine I wouldnt be well accepted in Ranger gear.

Hahaha probably not. Hockey is different. Though I do have a friend who works for the Islanders and I've never had problems seeing the Bruins there.

Ha, there are Islanders fans who have problems seeing the Islanders in their own arena.

That should tell you all you need to know.

How about a steel caged death-match to settle this? Or is that what Newark's for?

That's a tougher sell than wearing gear from rival baseball or football teams. I've taken all manner of flack for wearing a Lakers shirt, but I know a ton of Yankee fans in Boston, and nobody cares about that. Likewise, I've been to games at Yankee Stadium wearing a Boston hat, and nobody cares.

What does not engage in this bull**** have to do with being rude or not? Not friendly does not translate to rude, to me.

(Oh, and I'm from Philadelphia. I find Philadelphians pretty rude, generally. New Yorkers actually seem less rude, but I haven't spent much time there, and mostly my visits have been limited to Manhattan. I haven't known that many Bostonians, but the small sample I have known have lived up to their snotty reputation. I met someone from Boston here in Albuquerque and I think it was the first time I spoke with her that she said something like: I think you'll find New Mexico more beautiful than Pennsylvania. Just have to put Pennsylvania down, don't you, Bostonian? I do find New Mexico beautiful, but the two states are beautiful in different ways.)

Shot in the dark, but she wouldn't happen to be getting her Master's in Geology from UNM, would she?
