My state is so large and so very diverse that I tend to identify with my metro rather then my state. My metro is one of those that should be divorced from it's state and become independent because we have nothing in common with the rest of the state and that is Philadelphia. Pennsylvania can adopt Stockholm for all I care.

Wouldn't that just make it a smaller San Francisco?

Alexandria for Knoxville, Monroe for Huntsville or Columbia, Lake Charles for Charleston, Hammond for Asheville, Slidell for Mobile, and Metairie for Bellevue.

Not at all imo. The two share some similarities but are pretty different overall.

It'd be nice if Richmond were replaced with New Orleans.

I know. I guess I'm not seeing how any of the crucial things that make New Orleans what it is could exist outside of Louisiana.

You could say the same thing about a lot of the cities on this thread when taking them outside their respective regions but what would be the point of that on some fantasy thread like this?

CT can have Springfield, we sure as hell don't want it, most people in the East don't even know it exists.

How about we annex Vermont and SW Quebec so we can have Montreal. That would be awesome.
