Although ask the folks in Europe; I think Rome has had a worse winter than NYC and Philly
Truly a crazy weather pattern this year. We got snow on October 30th then basically nothing, has been in the 70s for over a week and looks that way for the next week.
Shhh not really complaining
For the first time in my life I felt like there really was no actual winter this year

Same here, except I am complaining. I think we only got 1" or 2" of snow all winter (October included).
I went skiing only two days this winter, no ice skating, no crampon hiking! It sucked!!!
If it reaches 90 degrees before the end of May, I'm moving north!

Today was the first day omaha dropped below 70 for a high since February! We have had almost the entire winter with highs from 45 to 86. Crazy year.

Rome only had 16 days all winter where the temp didn't reach at least 50 degrees, and the lowest high temp they had all winter was 37 degrees. A few inches of snow during one really "cold" snap where the temp didn't get above 40 degrees for two days. I'm sure NYC and Philly were colder than that, and at least got a few inches of snow this winter.

All these "snowbelt" cities have weak snowfall averages to be honest. Growing up my parents had a house in Serene Lakes, CA up on the Donner Pass. I don't know if any of you have LIVED through 400 inches of snow as an average but it's pretty wild. Way way way way more snow (even in a bad year) than ANYWHERE in the east. Last winter it got 689 inches of snow and had 4 feet on the ground in mid july! Come on Upstate NY, compare with that PLEASE

That is impressive. Not very populated, though.

True, but what is annoying is that those east/midwest cities often are the only ones that get any attention when it comes to heavy snowfall regardless if population is even put into the equation. If you google "snowiest places in the USA" you'll get like Rochester, NY! like really? There are places in WA, OR, CA and AK that get more snow in one snowstorm than most of upstate NY recieves in a year lol Stupid gripe I know, but I'm here sticking up for the little guy in this battle lol

It's a dubious distinction which I'm sure that any of the larger, snow-belt cities would be more than happy to give to you. The incessant bad press and whining about the winter weather is probably the single most annoying thing about living in any one of them. The weather from December through April is infinitely more bearable than the cacophony of resident/media commiseration.
