Well, I must admit Im guilty of preferring European cars, namely Mercedes Benz, Ive been a faithful benz driver for more than 20 years. I do own an american SUV tho(havent driven it in a while admittedly) and have no issues with American made cars.

Anyway, the article: The Car Snob Index: Why America's Richest Cities Don't Buy American Cars - Rohin Dhar - Business - The Atlantic

New York should be at the top for american cars. Must be the immigrants.

Philadelphia is also surprising. Here in Philly, all I see is euromobiles.

But who cares American cars rock.
Euro cars suck.

Given how the last few years have gone for American car companies this is not a surprise. They are no longer the surperior cars. Sure there are some good ones. The new Jeep Gran Cherokee is great and the Wrangler too. The Ford Focus is a good car. But overall American companies A. Do not make great high end cars. B. Do not make the most reliable cars and C. Dont make the most fun to drive cars.
This needs to change. American car companies need more inovation and a better product. But right now I do prefer European cars and some Asian cars to many American cars.

They DO make reliable cars, they ARE superior cars, they DO make GREAT high end cars, and god dammit they are fun to drive.

I'm not going to lie, I currently drive 9000 dollar 2003 Mazda RX-8 and that thing is fun to drive.

But out of all the cars I've driven, the only 2 cars I liked to drive were foreign. The 2 cars were my 1995 Nissan pathfinder and my 2003 Mazda RX-8.
About 10 other cars were all American.

My 1998 Mustang was my baby and boooy did I love that car. I finally saved up enough money to buy it off of my friend. I never had any major problems with it, and I finally sold it in 2010 for 6 grand. I used that money to buy the Mazda RX-8 and I love that car to death.

But back to the basics... American Cars crap on Euromobiles even though I do like Italian cars.

I wonder why they left out Korean cars in the study. Kia and especially Hyundai have been very successful in the US and are major forces in the car market.

Wow, major surprise to me seeing so low a % of American cars in Dallas. When I visited Seattle, all I saw were Japanese cars, yet Seattle ranks above Dallas in % American cars according to this list.

I really do wish I could say American cars are great I really do. Jeeps are good, Americans make good pickup trucks but for many different cars they are not great.

Somone tell me an American Car better than:
Mercedes E-350
BMW 3 Series
VW Golf
VW Jetta TDI
G35
Kia Optima is a fantastic car of the price.
Toyota Camry
Porsche Carrera
Audi A8

I can go on and on. American cars do not compete well in most catagories from low price hatch back to high priced sedan.

I live in Manhattan and haven't driven a car that hasn't rolled out of the Mercedes-Benz factory in Sindelfingen, Germany in forever. I don't like American cars.
