that small NFL stadium caused an earthquake reading during the playoffs
denvers soccer stadium doesn't fill to it's 18,000 person capacity - seattle's stadium (which was built specifically for football & soccer multi-use) only offered 38,500 seats for soccer and sold them all out .... they should be around 40,000 in attendance this year
teams in a small stadium that don't fill their capacity shouldn't begrudge teams in a larger stadium that triple their average attendance
I wouldn't bank on that ........ also Seattle isn't "my city" ...... i'm not even a sounders fan ...... they're just really connected well into the community
This thread has veered into "which city has the best/most dedicated fans", which is an interesting discussion, but IMO hardly the only thing that makes a good sports city. Considering the important variables that I think make a good sports city, which I touched on early on in this thread, I'd say Denver has the strongest argument.
I find it puzzling that Seattle and Phoenix have nearly as many votes as Bay Area and Los Angeles, with Denver eclipsing all of them (almost combined).
Hmm, must not really pay attention. Maybe Denver really is more like a Midwestern City in that aspect.
Congratulations to Sacramento for keeping the Kings though
I'm not too familiar with the Seattle sports scene but Phoenix is a major player in national sports.
Phoenix would have a better reputation as a major sports city if their existing teams would work on bringing in more all-star athletes and win a few championships.
My vote is Los Angeles. An example: I was at the 2009 Lakers parade and over a million fans were lining the streets. That's more people than most of the cities in the western US just hanging out at a parade! LA gets overlooked and sometimes disrespected a lot about almost everything but you can't overlook the sports tradition of the City of Angels. Hell, Los Angeles alone has more sports championships than the ENTIRE state of Texas! But wait, oh no! LA doesn't have an NFL team so I guess it's the worse sports city ever. The fans in LA get a bad rep (probably based souly on their residency in LA) but they are among the most loyal and dedicated fans you'd find anywhere else. Denver? DENVER? LA has more CLIPPER fans than Denver has people! Okay, that's probably not true, nobody likes the Clippers...but my point is: LA is a great place to be a sports fan both at the college and professional levels.
Denver had a higher percentage of its entire metro population show up to the Broncos first Super Bowl parade than the LA parade! The Rockies have set almost every attendance record there is in baseball. The Avs set a attendance sell-out streak in the NHL. Denver beats la.
Los Angeles sells out its stadium seats, I'm betting on LA in this comparison. Plus they have the Lakers, one of the most recognizable sports teams in the world IMO. I don't vote on these C-D polls but go ahead and count me in for LA

We are talking sports right? UCLA by itself has 108 team championships in sports. Just UCLA. On the professional level, I don't think I need to beat that dead horse. LA is by far the best sports city in the west. Don't hate LA just because it has more to offer than just it's sports teams, Denver is a ****ing joke. You can have your Broncos. I'll go anywhere in the world and ask somebody who the Broncos are and they'll slap me for being retarded. But they will however, talk to me about the LA Lakers, you know, a team that's actually recognized worldwide.
